Musical Road in India: How Melody Roads Are Changing Highway Travel

Musical roads in India are an innovative road design that plays a tune when vehicles drive at a fixed speed. Also called melody roads, these use specially spaced grooves on the road surface to create vibrations that turn into music. The Mumbai musical road, famously known as the “Jai Ho Road”, gained attention for playing A.R. Rahman’s patriotic tune and promoting safe driving speeds. Inspired by this, the Nagpur musical road project under NHAI aims to combine road safety with a unique travel experience. The NHAI musical road project reflects India’s push toward smart, engaging, and safer highways.
